Thursday 4th March - walk *** - Around Felixstowe – cloudy and cold.

More rain in the night but at least yesterdays fog has gone but it is still cloudy and cold. Mag and I had some fun this morning teaching our kittens to use the cat flap, Benny the ginger one got it straight away but Rue took longer, we still think the great outdoors is still a little daunting for them although Benny climbed his first tree and then all but fell out of it! So, with the daily exercises out of the way and lunch dome we decide to go for a walk and for a change we head away from the seafront. We had to drop something off at our sons who lives under a mile away so took the footpath which runs along the railway line by the cemetery. After a quick catch up with Dan, as he is working from home, we continue onto Walton High Street by the church where we bump into an old birdwatching friend out for his daily exercise and stop for a chat:) He said he was heading over to The Grove which give us an idea to do the same. We walked through the church and out the back reaching a footpath by the side of the allotments leading to the horse fields at the rear of the Grove which was very wet under foot, poor old horses! We said hello to a large one-eyed horse, passing the electric fence we used to have fun with when our boys when they were small, we were terrible parents but you can’t beat touching an electric fence! We enter the dog walkers favourite wood and take some of the quieter paths through the trees spotting some squirrels with noisy crows above with snowdrops everywhere, very pretty but muddy! We then walk around the plantation called Abbey wood and bump into Roger again who had just been watching some long tailed tits:) Then through Felixtowe town stopping off quickly at Marys for another drop off and home for a warming cuppa and rock bun:) Then watching the ITV About Anglia weather I discovered I had a pic on for the second day running making getting out with my camera worthwhile, it can be challenging trying to get a half decent pic when you go to the same places everyday especially when the weather is poor!
